I drew Nigata without having a plan for its name. We were on the bus to Niigata, and I drew two pieces over the first couple of hours. For the third piece, I invited Lin to draw the first lines. We ended up taking turns drawing it over the next hour or so.
I wrote the name "Lin's Heart" on the back of the piece Lin started. It was at this point that I thought of a naming scheme for the series, using roman numerals to replace the "ii" in the Romanized name for 新潟 (Niigata).
