Colleen was one of my youth in the high school youth group called LRY at Emerson (while every other group had moved on to the name YRUU) back in like 1997 - 2000 or something. We've stayed in pretty close e-touch during her college days in Corpus Christi, and now during her whale watching days with helicopter rides to work on oil rigs in the Gulf of Mexico.
Colleen has probably been my most-continuously connected friend from my advising years in YRUU. She was a youth at the time, and a lot of my brain cells are still in that mindset. But we're slowly moving away from that (she drove me-and-Ami around Austin last summer; she's commissioned me for this painting; I say HI randomly to her on email/chat).
It all started, perhaps, when she sent me a little stuffed blue-green rabbit.
Worst experience: mis-remembering her chat username as someone else's, but still chatting for a bit and not realizing she was Colleen!!!
Best experiences:
- the going away party she threw for me where I got to cut a cake the way I've always wanted to.
- her birthday party at janette's house in Dallas just before I went to Japan
- getting to hang out with her in Austin as she drove me and Ami around to surprise my brother and janette!
- being the first person to commission a painting from me!
- chatting for hours online
- visiting us in Japan!
