Our Granddad was a great grandfather. He created a lawn-sized board game for us by "letting a monkey mow the lawn." He took us out sailing a couple of times. He had lots of wooden blocks with which we built castles when we were little. He had puzzles that we played with when we were older. He and his wife lived in Houston for some years while we did, so we got to go over there pretty regularly.

When he died, Fred and I said the same thing after the funeral: I was okay until they played Amazing Grace on bagpipes. "Yep, ya had to bust out the bagpipes, didn't ya?"
