World Banknote Lot — item photo (leaving-Japan catalog)
Singapore $1 — Bird series, black-naped tern
Cream, blue and pink. A large "$1" sits at upper left and again at lower right. The dominant image is a black-naped tern in flight, wings raised, rendered in fine blue line engraving over a fan of concentric guilloche arcs and captioned "BLACK-NAPED TERN". The text runs "This note is legal tender for / SINGAPORE / ONE DOLLAR", with the Minister for Finance's signature and a red square Chinese seal. At upper right is the Singapore coat of arms — a lion and a tiger flanking a shield bearing a crescent and five stars — on a ribbon reading "MAJULAH SINGAPURA". A pink floral guilloche band crosses the top. Along the bottom, a blue panel shows the Singapore skyline seen from the water, above the country's name in four scripts: "SINGAPURA 新加坡 சிங்கப்பூர் SINGAPORE". The serial appears twice, at upper right and lower left.
Condition: light handling, one soft vertical fold, minor edge wear. One of the two nicest notes in the lot.
Serial number: H/1 458215 (read from the photograph)
