Airplane Day:Why do you call it "Airplane Day?"

Basically I don't think a date on the calendar should be forever tainted with such a bad memory. I mean, what about all the people who have birthdays on that date? Plus, due to fear generated starting day, we lost a lot of freedoms, starting with ridiculous new rules for boarding aircraft.
